Subverting the academy: How Black people are using accessible tech to demonstrate their expertise

I used to think that to be a “techie,” I had to learn how to code and build websites. And while those skills are impressive (and important!), accessible technology, like Google Hangouts, have had a huge impact on how I experience the world and share my expertise with others. This talk will highlight different examples of how Black people are using accessible technology to flip the term “expert” on its head. We’re all an expert at something and we don’t need a degree to share the knowledge of our lived experiences.
